A centrepiece of the
exhibition is a rare surviving copy of the first Greek-language edition of the
Hymn to Liberty by Dionysios Solomos, printed in besieged Messolonghi in 1825
and presented for the first time outside Greece.
Featuring historical
artefacts, objects, and artworks, the exhibition explores the siege and Exodus
of Messolonghi, its place within the Greek War of Independence, and the role of
the Philhellenes -among them many Britons- highlighting the enduring legacy of
the Exodus as a symbol of sacrifice and the struggle for freedom.
