Assistant Leaders: Campers who are entering into Year 13 in the coming
academic year may apply to be selected as “Assistant Leaders”. Leaders in
Training applicants should fill out the Leader in Training Application, you may
also apply as a camper, in case you are not selected as an Assistant Leader.
However, we do encourage you to return the camper application as soon as
possible, as campers are selected on a first come first served basis.
Registration: For a camper to be registered, we must receive both
a) a fully completed Registration Form (attached) and b) a £90 deposit or a
Bursary Request Form. Cheques should be made payable to ‘GOYGB Camp’. Camp fees
must be paid in full by 1st June 2017. Applications will be
processed in order of the postmark.
Cancellation: We appreciate prompt notification if a camper must
cancel. Cancellations before 1st July will receive a full refund
less the deposit. After 1st July, refunds may be requested in
writing and will only be granted if a replacement for the opening is found,
except in cases of family emergency.
Bursaries: If you require a bursary, please complete the Bursary
Request Form and submit it to us. We will then pass these onto parishes or the
Archdiocese who are willing to give funding towards your children attending
camp.
Medical Information: Once registered, you will receive via email the
Health History and Examination Form. These forms must be filled out in their
entirety by you and your child’s doctor and sent to the camp secretary no later
than two weeks prior to arrival or the camper’s spot may be forfeited.
Billing Information: Balance of all
payments (£195 per person) are due on 1st June, or the camper’s
spot may be forfeited. A deposit of £90 must be sent with the registration form
to secure a place. All balances will be billed to the campers’ parents/
guardian, regardless of any parish subsidies. As in the past, we anticipate
many campers on the waiting list, thus any campers with outstanding balances
after 1st June may forfeit their spot to a camper on the waiting
list.
Transportation to camp:
You
may choose to drive your child to/from camp in which case we will send you
directions.
If
your child is coming alone via public transport a shuttle bus will transport
children to/from Shrewsbury bus and railway station. Participants will be met
by a uniformed leader and we will confirm their arrival.
Camp Activities: Life at camp takes full advantage of our outdoor
setting. Activities may include field sports, swimming, canoeing, overnight
camping, and an overnight trip off-camp for some of our oldest campers (usually
age 15- 17). Rainy days are a frequent occurrence, so waterproof coat, trousers and wellington boots are a must.
Conduct: All campers are expected to act in ways appropriate
to an Orthodox Christian setting. While all disciplinary action will be taken
to attempt resolution on site, the Camp Director reserves the right to dismiss
campers for gross violations of camp rules. Parents will be responsible for
arranging and covering the costs of their child’s early departure.
More information: Upon being registered, a link to the Camper/Parent
Handbook and forms will be emailed to each family which contains the necessary
information to adequately prepare yourself and your child for camp. Please be
sure a correct email address is included in the registration form. Also, please
be sure to list our email address (info@goygbcamp.org.uk)
as a safe sender so correspondence from GOYGB Camp is not marked as spam.
