The mystery of the Theotokos stands at the meeting point of Christology, anthropology, ecclesiology, liturgy, spirituality, and the Christian understanding of human transformation. The richness of this tradition cannot be reduced to a fixed body of “Marian doctrine”: it emerged through Scripture and exegesis, patristic theology, hymnography, worship, iconography, and the lived experience of the Church.
 
This conference brings together scholars to reconsider the Theotokos from historical, textual, theological, and interdisciplinary perspectives. It invites renewed attention to the formation and transmission of Marian traditions, to their diverse expressions across Eastern Christianity, and above all to the fundamental theological question they disclose: what does the mystery of the Theotokos reveal about the Incarnation, the Church, and the vocation of humanity to communion with God?
