Ημερίδα για τα Γλυπτά του Παρθενώνα

Παρότι όπως φαίνεται η επιστροφή των Γλυπτών του Παρθενώνα δεν βρίσκεται πλέον στις προτεραιότητες της Ελληνικής Κυβέρνησης, κάποιοι άνθρωποι και οργανισμοί σκέπτονται ακόμα το ζήτημα αυτό, προβληματίζονται και συζητούν για την προώθησή του.

Έτσι, την Τρίτη 7 Ιουνίου τ.έ., 9:15 π.μ. - 12:45 μ.μ. θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Senate House, Senate Room, Malet Street, London, WC1E 7HU, μια ημερίδα, οργανωμένη από τους παρακάτω οργανισμούς:

-The British Committee for the Reunification of the Parthenon Marbles www.parthenonuk.com/upcomingevents

- The International Organising Committee – Australia – for the Restitution of the Parthenon Marbles (inc)  www.parthenonmarblesaustralia.org.au

- The South African Committee for the Reunification of the Parthenon Sculptures

The conference will mark 200 years from the date in 1816 when the British Parliament voted to purchase from Lord Elgin his collection of sculpted marbles collected from the Parthenon and elsewhere on the Athenian Acropolis. Two weeks later the Acropolis Museum (www.theacropolismuseum.gr/en/) will be celebrating its 7th anniversary.

Presentations by speakers from the UK, Greece, South Africa and Australia. Themes will include issues relating to the reunification of the marbles from the perspective of modern day museology to UNESCO’s call for mediation. Spaces are limited, for registration, please email: info@parthenonuk.com
