This event is the second conversation dealing with the effects of the COVID19 on Orthodox faith communities in the UK and abroad, including exploring questions of theology, liturgical practice, faith in the public and private space.

Next Monday's event will include a panel of six clergy and lecturers from the UK and from overseas: Revd Dr John Jillions (Associate Professor at St Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, Founding Principal of IOCS), Revd Dr Anastasios Brandon Gallaher (Senior Lecturer of Systematic and Comparative Theology, University of Exeter), Revd David Lowell (Director IOCS, Executive Director Raphael House), Sister Vassa Larin (host of the popular series of podcasts ‘Coffee with Sr Vassa’, author, liturgiologist at the University of Vienna), Dr Mary Cunningham (Honorary Associate Professor of Historical Theology, The University of Nottingham), Revd Dragos Herescu (Principal IOCS, moderator).

This second event will touch upon the lessons from the New Testament with regard to the reality of the pandemic, on the relationship between the Orthodox Church and the modern world, on the responses to the crisis from a pastoral perspective. Is the current context a challenge or an opportunity for the Orthodox Liturgical tradition and the ritual practices? How can we better harness our Patristic heritage in dealing with contexts like the one we are experiencing now?

The panel discussion will be followed by an opportunity from the live audience to ask questions, but we strongly recommend that you submit questions in advance, by email to info@iocs.cam.ac.uk, to enable speakers to consider them in advance.

The event will be held via Zoom. The Zoom link for participation is: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86189115788 (Please note that the maximum number of participants allowed by Zoom is 100).
