I see that today (29 December) is the anniversary of the death in 1937 of the American poet Don Marquis. He once wrote:
 

Publishing a volume of verse is like dropping a rose-petal down the Grand Canyon and waiting for the echo. 
 
We must keep on dropping our petals!
