Annual CHELG Conference for chaplains in higher education: "Journeying Together"

Monday to Wednesday, 8th-10th January 2024
Venue: The Hayes, Swanwick, Alfreton, Derbyshire DE55 1AU
Cost: £250 residential, (non-residential options are available)

Dear all,

I hope you are all doing well and finding those moments of joy and community in this academic year.

You may already have heard about this event from your fellow chaplains in the HE Institution(s) where you are accredited or attached. In the past it has been a wonderful occasion to meet Ecumenical colleagues and also to share among ourselves our experience serving as Orthodox chaplains in Higher Education in the UK.

We are emailing with details of the CHELG 2024 Annual Conference: Journeying Together which will take place Monday 8 January - Wednesday 10 January at The Hayes Conference Centre in Derbyshire. https://www.cct.org.uk/the-hayes/the-hayes-conference-centre

Attached is a flyer with details on our keynotes speakers and how to book. I have also included this information below.

The cost for the entire conference (including accommodation) is £250. If you are interested in a non-residential place, please be in touch as that will have a reduced rate.

Our keynote speakers will be:

Prof. Kristin Aune (Sociology of Religion, Coventry University): Talk and workshop about helping students build positive relationships across differences of religion and worldview (based on the ‘Building Positive Relationships’ report).

David Wells (teacher, public speaker, author, & catechist): The Art of Accompaniment in a Higher Education setting.

Dr Nicola Brady (General Secretary of CTBI): Looking forward and living together in peace amidst difference.

As always, there will be time for short workshops on the Tuesday. We welcome workshops from those attending and if you would like to lead a workshop, please do get in touch.

We hope you will attend - the Conference is always a great opportunity for getting together to share our work, receive and offer support and to just enjoy time together!

You can book your place here: (please note, there is a deadline of 15 December)
