Studying the Gospel of St. John

A rich and immersive day of theological reflection at the Study on the Gospel of John, will be hosted by the Orthodox Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God in Bristol. Taking place on Saturday, 25 April 2026, this free event offers a rare opportunity to delve deeply into one of the most profound and spiritually resonant books of the New Testament. The programme includes structured teaching sessions, time for fellowship over a provided lunch, and concludes with Vespers, inviting participants not only to learn but also to pray and encounter the Gospel in the life of the Church. With limited space available, early registration is strongly encouraged.

The day will be led by Fr John Behr, an internationally renowned Orthodox priest, theologian, and scholar of early Christianity. Fr John is widely respected for his engaging teaching style and his ability to make the writings of the Church Fathers accessible and relevant today. Having served as Dean of St Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary and currently holding academic positions in the UK, he brings both deep scholarship and pastoral insight to his work. His reflections on the Gospel of John are especially valued for their depth, clarity, and transformative spiritual perspective.
